Playa San Pedro is often (mistakenly) called Playa San Pedrito. This is incorrect as Playa San Pedrito lies to the north just around Punta San Pedro. This beach is nice for surfing and fishing, but it is not so swim or children friendly. The north end of the beach is very rocky and the riptides are pretty strong.

Fishing

The fishing is supposed to be better on the north end of the beach.

Surfing

The surfing on this beach can be pretty good if the swells are favorable. The most popular place to paddle out is just below (south) of the rocks along the shore and then work you way back to the north end of the beach for the best consistent sets. Even though this is a beach break, the waves are a bit "technical" and it does break over rocks along the north end of the beach - so the timid or neewbie surfers might want to look elsewhere.

Camping

The RV park stated in many guide books has since closed. It was wiped out in a hurricane a few years ago and changes ownership a few times. Currently, there is primitive camping where the old RV park was located and is just a few meters from the surf.

Directions

Located off Highway 19 at approximately KM60. Look for the old arched entrance to the RV park that says "Bienvendos." Follow the arroyo/sandy road for approximately 3km to the beach. You can also access the beach from roads closer to Pescadero - look for signs for a "surf hotel."
