Don't let the initial steep grade discourage you. After the first mile, the trail levels out and stays close to the creek.
At the beginning of the trail you will see Chief Mountain, elevatioon 11,363 feet, to the right. On the left flank is Wichita Mountain, elevation 10,855 feet.
For the next 2 miles, you will be hiking past beaver ponds before you reach an open slope to the north.
The Eagles Nest Wilderness boundary begins just past htis open slope and the intersection to the Gore Range Trail is another 1.34 miles, approximately, past this boundary.
Traveling past this junction will provide great views of the majestic peaks of the Gore Range.
After reaching the Gore Range Trail users may turn right (north) and travel approximately 3.29 miles to the summit of Eccles Pass, elevation 11,900 feet; or:
Turn left (south) and travel approximately 2.75 miles to the summit of Uneva Pass, elevation 11,910 feet.
NORTH TENMILE TRAILHEAD DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From I-70 take Exit 201, Frisco Main Street. At the I-70 exit ramp stop sign, turn away from the town of frisco and park at the end of the plowed road.
