Begin skiing up the access road to the Mayflower Amphitheater and some mining cabin ruins. When you come to the cabins begin skiing up the open snowfield on the south side of Mayflower Gulch towards Tucker Mountain. Contour around the hills on the access road, gradually climbing toward the open drainage of Mayflower Gulch. After 1 mile, the trail descends easily toward the Mayflower Amphitheater, providing a magnificent
view. A rounded ridge top shapes the left side of the amphitheater, with the pointed peak of Fletcher Mountain sitting squarely in the middle.

The first portion of this route crosses property owned by Climax Molybdenum Company (AMAX). This public access is provided as a courtesy of AMAX. Please respect their property and be mindful that you may encounter some mining activity. Avalanche danger may exist above timberline, so be careful.

From I-70 take Exit 195, Copper Mountain / Leadville, and travel south on HWY 91 toward Leadville. Travel south 5.3 miles. The Mayflower Gulch trailhead and parking area will be on the left side, slightly hidden by snow banks.
