The half marathon starts at the historic Dewey Bridge on the Colorado River, near mile post 30 of Highway 128 just outside of Moab. The course parallels the river, amid backdrops of gorgeous scenery, including prominent landmarks Fisher Towers, Castle Rock, and the La Sal Mountains. The first seven miles roll gently; miles 8-12 contain some short hills and mile 13 is a fast downhill to the lush green finish at Sorrel River Ranch Resort.
Travelers along I-70, which crosses the entire state of Utah, can take either Exit 180 (Highway 191) or Exit 202 (Scenic Byway 128) to reach Moab. Highway 191 continues south of Moab linking up with other highways providing access to Monument Valley, Lake Powell, southwestern Colorado, and points beyond.
