The trail is packed dirt and entirely flat and very scenic. The towpath runs from Trenton , through Princeton, to Johnson Park in New Brunswick. Runners/walkers can join in at many points along the 34.1 mile towpath

Johnson Park in New Brunswick/Piscataway at the Grove 5 parking lot, accessed from the one-way Park road that starts at Landing Lane. Landing Lane bisects the park. It is 200 yards north of the Route 18/Metlars Lane traffic light. To get to Landing Lane, take River Road north, into Piscataway, from Highland Park. At the 3rd traffic light, make a left. Alternatively, take Easton Avenue from Somerset going south or New Brunswick going north; Landing Lane intersects Easton Avenue at Franklin Blvd.

Although I have never actually ran this path, I can say that it is very beautiful, especially when the leaves change color.
