SELECTED NEW ENGLAND RUNNER MAGAZINE 2004 RACE OF THE YEAR!!! 15th Annual. Very scenic, out and back course, held during fall foliage season. First and last two miles run along our beautiful inner bay Back Cove in Portland. Maine Half Marathon also held. Capped at 2,500 runner. First six miles both race together before half marathon returns to Portland, is flat except for two small inclines. Flat to mile 8.5. Mile 8.5 to 16 toughest part of course, consisting of flats, downs and rolling hills with the biggest hil approaching mile 16. After mile 16 flat last ten miles except for one small "dimple" at Mile 20. Course consists of city, water and rural views. Long sleeve shirts to ALL entrants. Finishers medals for all finishers in both races. Certificate of Completion for marathoners. Shower facilities available at University of Southern Maine, one block from start/finish. Proceeds to benefit WinterKids (fighting childhood obesity through healthy winter activity) Race put on for runners by runners. Non-profit all-volunteer. Event is approaching the 1.3million dollar mark in raising money for local charties and cancer reasearch. Back for the seventh year, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Team in Training.
Packet pick-up and registration held at the University of Southern Maine, Sullivan Gym in Portland, exit 6B north or south off I-295.
