This is a wide gravel trail/road that heads north between Hogback Ridge and Mount Sanitas. However short, it can be combined with several other runs in the area to make a worthwhile outing. Beware this trail is heavily frequented by people and dogs. I mean this is like Grand Central Station for dogs.

This is a straight forward trail. Start at the Mount Sanitas Trailhead off of Mapleton Ave. just west of the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. Cross the small footbridge and onto the gravel path. Take this 1 mile to the head of the valley. Here you can turn around and head back down. 50 yards back down the trail, take the left fork (Dakota Ridge Trail) and run 1.2 miles back to your car. The Dakota Ridge Trail follows the hogback on the eastern side of Sinitas Valley. It is a nice rocky singletrack trail that basiclly heads due south and will take you to the trailhead and your car.

Other options for this would be: 1) at the head of the valley take a left (west) and take the steep trail to the summit of Mount Sanitas (.9 miles) or 2) at the head of the valley take a right (east) down the "Ho Chi Min" Trail that stteply winds down to 4th Street, then run south along any of the neighborhood streets back to the Mount Sanitas Trailhead and your car.

From Broadway (Hwy. 93) turn west towards the mountains on Mapleton Ave. Take this approximately 2 miles until you pass Boulder Center for Sports Medicine (on your right). Parking for the Mount Sanitas Trailhead can be found .1 and .25 miles further on your right and additional parking a bit further on the left hand side of the road. Just look for all the parked cars. This is a popular area and should be easy to find.
