When staying in Davis, CA, one summer, I stumbled upon this bike path that runs adjacent to Russell Boulevard. The path is totally flat, occasionally shaded, and very straight, running through the farmlands that typify this region of Northern California. Starting my runs from near UC Davis, the furthest I have run, heading west along the path is 6 miles (for a 12 mile out and back run), but even at my turnaround point, the path showed no signs of stopping. I have no idea how much further it goes. There are no mile markers and after about 2 miles, you can really feel lonely out there, especially when the desert sun starts beating down on you. It is a bit isolated. The upside is that traffic is minimal and you can really haul on the flat path if you are feeling good. I'd recommend this path if you are in the area - you get out into the country pretty quickly and can enjoy some peace and quiet. Let me know how far it goes if you get to the end.

Russell Blvd. is on the northern edge of the UC Davis campus. Run on the south side of Russell heading west. The path begins as soon as you cross Highway 113.
