The Old Dominion 100 Mile One Day Endurance Run -the original race- was started in 1979 and is the oldest 100 mile run east of California.
It starts and finishes at the Shenandoah County fairgrounds in Woodstock, Virginia.
The race is a figure eight loop through Fort Valley, Va which is created by the Massanutten Moutain Range just East of Woodstock, Va. There are fourteen significant climbs, twenty five aid stations, two medical check points, and pit crews or drop bags are allowed.
The race is always the first weekend in June every year. This year it starts on June 3, 2006 at 4:00am.
The race is designed to be a fair test of runners against the course, the clock, and themselves.
The Old Dominion Silver belt buckle is awarded to those who finish within 24 hours. Finishers awards are given to those who finish within 28 hours.
The course is open for 28 hours.
The Shenandoah County fairgrounds are located in Woodstock, virginia just off Interstate 81 at virginia state route 42.
Woodstock, Va. is easily reached from Washington, D.C. via Interstate 66 to I-81 south to Woodstock.
From Baltimore, Md take Interstate 70 to I-81 south to Woodstock, Va.
