Rocky out-an-back on narrow rocky trails that has several creek crossings (two major ones at mile 0 and mile 30). The turnaround is at the Barkshed Campground and Recreation Area. This course is a well-traveled trail that follows the and is marked with silver triangles and brown plastic post.

The North Sylamore Trail is named for the scenic North Sylamore Creek which flows alongside the trail. Waterfalls at Slick Rock Hollows and running below numerous scenic bluffs are a few features of the trail. The trail follows the north fork of the Sylamore Creek, providing one of the most scenic trails in the region. You will pass through Gunner Pool Campground and Blanchard Springs Recreation Area along the way which provide great support if you have someone not running the trail.

This is a fairly technical and rocky trail with over 3,500 feet of elevation gain over the out-and-back course. There are only two big hills that contribute to the altitude changes. The rest is earned by lots of small up-and-downs.

After rains the trail can be quite wet and resembles more of a creek bed at times than a trail, but it is not very muddy as the wet areas are rocky.

Start and end at the intersection of Hwys. 14 and 5 in Allison and run to the trailhead for a full 50K. See also Sylamore Trail 50K.

Turn right off Hwy. 14, approximately 1/2 mile after turning west at the intersection of Hwys. 14 and 5 at the community of Allison just outside of Mountain Home. Low traveled gravel road turns right off 14 in outside of first curve, as road starts up hill. Follow signs to trailhead for 1/2 mile (downhill) on gravel road. Trailhead sign stands in the middle of an old pasture. The trail begins to the left and behind the sign, down by the creek bank.

If you are in the area and want a place to stay, I can recommend Jacks Fish Resort and the hotel off the intersection of Hwy 14 and 5 - sorry I forget the name.
