The Mesa-Monument Striders are a running club of Grand Valley based out of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Membership includes the club newsletter, card and membership discounts for shoes and club races, and a free subscription to Colorado Runner Magazine.
For winter 2004-2005:
The Thursday evening runs will meet at Running Outfitters, 437 Colorado Avenue at 5:30 pm. The ?course? is approximately 6 miles.
From Running Outfitters, the group runs to 7th St. and heads south to the Botanical Gardens. From there, we head east on the bike path toward the bridge. If one chooses to turnaround from that point, the distance will be about 4 miles. To run the full 6 mile course, cross the bridge and up the hill. At the top of the hill, we take a sharp left (or just go straight and reduce the distance by about ? mile) and complete the entire loop around the park. Head down the alley behind Orchard Mesa Middle school. We take a right turn on Unaweep Ave. The course takes a little zig-zag at Linden Ave (or right by Columbus elementary school), and we take a right. Then turn left on Santa Clara, followed by a right turn at the stop sign, or Aspen St. The road turns 90 degrees and becomes Grand Mesa Ave, then go straight until you reach Hwy. 50. Head downhill across the Colorado river, then take a right on Struthers Ave (heading back to the Botanical Gardens.) Return back to Running Outfitters, via 7th St. and Colorado Ave.
This is a great way to get outside and join a group run during the winter months. So stop by on Thursday evenings.

2006 update?
some things have changed -- the running outfitters store has moved to the 600 block of Main Street (you can't miss it) but there are still Thursday evening runs at the Monument Road Tabeguache trailhead. Yes, check the website ( www.mmstriders.org ) the phone # might have changed. but the Striders are still the same! and putting on 2 - 3 races per month.
