This is a great place to run in the hot Texas summer as the trail is mostly shaded. The 8.5 mile Lost Pines trail peacefully winds through pine trees at the Bastrop State Park, about 30 miles south of Austin. Not long enough? There are approximately 3.5 miles of additional trails you can combine; those trails are marked by colors grey, blue, red, white, yellow, black and all are within the paved road loop of the park.
You will need to pay to enter the park, but its worth it. And, there is a swimming pool at the park for a post-run dip to cool off!
