This trail brings you to the top of South Dakota's highest point, Harney Peak, located in Custer State Park. The beautiful route offers a nice uphill challenge, rocky in places, but the views are worth the effort.
Follow trail #9 from Sylvan Lake Trailhead parking lot. The trail starts out fairly flat, with steady climbing thereafter. Bring water. On the way back down, mind the trail markers to be sure you are following trail 9 all the way back to the Sylvan Lake trailhead parking lot.
