The Freescale Marathon is a USATF-certified and sanctioned, point-to-point course (elevation & course map available on race website) that begins in northwest Austin, continues south through downtown toward the Colorado River (aka Town Lake), wraps around the lake and finishes on Auditorium Shores. This course features several of Austin's most prestigious and prominent landmarks including:
-Texas State Capitol
-Texas Governor's Mansion
-University of Texas campus
-Town Lake
-Hyde Park Historic district
-Austin's famous 6th Street District
On-course amenities are some of the best in the country and include:
-Highly visible mile markers.
-Portapotties at every mile.
-90% complete road closure.
-Police protection at major intersections.
-Course marshals.
-Police escorts for leaders.
-Bicycle escorts for wheelchair participants.
-Clothing drop-off at start line.
-Medical aid at start line, finish line and every mile along the course.
-The start line area has water and porta-potties.
-The finish line area has water, clothing pick-up, shuttle service, timing chip return, porta-potties, runner refreshment area and entertainment.
The start line for both the full and half marathons is at the corner of Stonelake Blvd. and York Blvd. one block south of Capital of Texas Highway. The half marathon finishes in front of Scholz?s Biergarten at 17th and San Jacinto. The full marathon finishes on Riverside Drive at Auditorium Shores.
Parking will be available at the start and finish lines. We recommend parking at the finish and taking a shuttle to the start on race morning. Shuttles will start running at 5:00 a.m. on race morning from the full marathon finish line and from the Hyatt Regency (208 Barton Springs Road).
A shuttle will also run from the half marathon finish line to the start at 5:30 and 6:00.
In order to ride the shuttle, you must purchase a $4 bus ticket via on-line registration or at the Expo.
