The Fort-4-Fitness certified Half Marathon begins at 7:30 Saturday morning, September 27, 2008. Runners will start in beautiful Freimann Square in downtown Fort Wayne just as the leaves are changing to Autumn colors. The course then traverses Swinney Park, cuts through the Historic West Central Neighborhood and heads north, eventually passing through Franke Park, home of the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. From there, the route makes its way back downtown to Freimann Square.
Participants can pick up race packets the evening prior to the race from 5 to 8 pm in the lobby of the Allen County Public Library located in downtown Fort Wayne. Overnight accommodations are available in downtown Fort Wayne and at each highway interchange around the city.
Runners and walkers will select their level of expertise and seed themselves for the race accordingly. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal. Awards will be given for the top three finishers overall and within each of three age groups.

The Fort-4-Fitness Health Fair takes place on Friday, September 26, 2008 from 5 to 8 pm in the Allen County Public Library and again on Saturday, September 27, from 10 am to 1 pm at Freimann Square. It is open to the general public and will feature many health and fitness organizations, both local and national. Attendees can see the latest in health equipment and sportswear. Race organizations and fitness centers will provide information on the best ways to train for marathons and other activities. Health organizations will be on hand to help people understand more about their current state of health and learn what can be done to improve their well being.
