Heavily wooded area in north San Antonio. The park has a 3-mile (approx.) paved path which has three branches. There are also numerous trails that form a loop but also connect with the paved paths, making for some good combinations. The trails total approximately 2-3 miles. This is a great run for anyone, especially those who need endurance training. If you run any part of this park, you get a good strength and cardio workout.
The paved path has two branches at "the bottom" that are fairly level but do have some slight inclines. The main part of the paved path is .9 miles one way and has a constant incline.
The trails are the same but very rocky and rooty at times, so be careful and walk those parts unless you know how to tapdance. The trails are a fun run but can get very steep at times. They have bridges that take the runner over creekbeds and are very heavily wooded giving the impression that you are nowhere near a major city.
The park also has picnic tables, two large pavilions, a playground for kids, and a small rockwall to satisfy a little bouldering. Take a look at it if you feel the urge for a hard but satisfying run!
Northwest San Antonio by the main entrance to Camp Bullis. Northwest Miltary Hwy., two(2) miles outide Loop 1604.
