The route follows Highway A1A north next to the Atlantic Ocean. Leaving the municipal parking lot, run north along the sidewalk about 1/4 mile to a crossing to a wide, paved pedestrian path. Cross over to the path and continue north for 10 miles to the pavillion at Delray Beach. turn around and run back to the parking lot at Deerfield Beach for your 20 mile run. There are only a couple of major streets to cross, an unusual advantage in the urban South Florida area! There are a couple of water fountains and bathrooms along the way at facilities, such as a golf course and a big hotel.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Road Runners (GFLRR)have marked miles in Roman numerals. The GRLRR take their long runs here every Sunday morning at 6 AM and put water and Gator Aide at several mile points. The GFLRR welcomes the public to run or walk this course on Sundays.

Remember to come early or late to avoid the South Florida heat. However, the route is open with foot traffic all day. Bikers also like to ride Highway A1A but have bike lanes near the road and don't compete with runners.

Take the Hillsboro Blvd. exit from I-95. Go toward Deerfield Beach until Hillsboro Blvd. dead ends into Hwy A1A. Turn left on A1A and go 1/4 mile north to the municipal parking lot on the right. The parking lot is about 300 yards north of the Deerfield Beach fishing pier.

There is a pavillion at the parking lot with bathrooms and water fountains.

Be sure to bring enough quarters for the parking meter at 25 cents/10 minutes for the expected duration of your run. The bill changing machines are not reliable. The Deerfield Beach police strictly enforce the parking meters on a 24 hr/day basis and enthusiastically distribute $25 tickets to violaters.

Hey,

I live in Deerfield Beach and interested in any local runs (including areas of Boca Raton), however I have never entered a run and I am trying to get some dates, times, and information for each one.

Thanks,

Jonnell
