You'll find many many trails within short driving distance of Cranberry Lake. I've attached a map on a loop I've done several times from the roadside trailhead at Wanakena to High Falls (a nice waterfall destination). The red trail is clearly marked (may not be red markers, can't remember). This is a 15 mile loop with a short jog to the falls and back to the main trail. It's pretty flat relatively speaking.
If you want a longer run, you could cross the river and continue on the yellow trail (see Map), but I have not been there. You should pick up the ADK Trial guide "Guide to Adirondack Trails: Northern Region" for this area before you leave. You can get them locally at any hiking store in the area or get them directly from ADK at: https://ssl-059.vianetworks.net/adk/ under "guidebooks."From East or West, Take Rt. 3 towards Cranberry Lake. From the east (Watertown) the turn for Wanakena is on the left just West (before) you get to Cranberry Lake. There is a sign directing you down a short road south across a bridge and to a dead end road where you will see the trail head clearly marked. There is a couple of parking areas there. There are two trail heads on this road. Pick one depending on which way you want to run the loop. See map.
