Great 5k run/walk for the whole family. Flat course (loop). Awards in 10 yr age groups for men & women & random prize drawing for all. Prizes include hotel & restaurant certificates, sport tix, etc. 100% cotton t-shirts. Finish line celebration features food from co-op growers & vendors. FROM MD VIA THE BW PARKWAY: Exit onto New York Avenue. Continue past North Capital Street and at 3rd Street, NW, turn left onto the 395 South exit. Follow towards Richmond. Take the first big exit (on the right), which says "Potomac Park - Park Police - No Trucks." Continue to stop sign. Take a right. This will take you straight to the end of Hains Point to the starting line.
FROM VIRGINIA: Take 395 North to "Potomac Park - Park Police" exit. Turn left at the stop sign (you will see signs for East Potomac Park.) Take a right onto Ohio Drive and follow it to the end of Hains Point and the Awakening Statue.
IN D.C.: Take 15th Street NW to the light at Independence Avenue. From there you can see the sign that says "East Potomac Park." Cross Independence (you're still on 15th.) Come to another light. The Tidal Basin is in front of you - you're looking at the water. Stay in the right lane as it bears to the left and then turns to the right. Be on the lookout for Ohio Drive - it goes underneath a train bridge to your left prior to the 395 ramp. Take a left onto Ohio Drive and follow it to the end.
