Im trying to run 5 miles, at 30 mins, well can do 5 miles now at about 40minutes, but the race is on 13th May, will try to improve it by 3 minutes each week, will concentrate solely, on road running at that distance now, completed endurance base training, and cause of that i can now atually do 5 miles. Now its just speed work for the next 3 weeks. Wish me luck!
You probably already know this, but no speed work that you do within two weeks of your race will help you. It takes a while for your efforts to manifest in increased performance. If you are trying to peak for a particular race, your last real benefiting workout will be about 10 days to two weeks out. Also, unless your just training thru this race, you should probably just skip that last speed workout if it is less than a week before the race.
