The Starved Rock Runners, Ltd was founded in 1982 as a non-profit volunteer organization for the purpose of promoting physical fitness and fun through running, while educating the public about the benefits of running. Membership is open to any individual or family interested in running. We are not a “track” club of elite athletes, but rather a social group that loves to run. The friendships formed and the support we give and get from each other is both uplifting and rewarding and will last a lifetime.

Our members come from all over north central Illinois, with the greatest number being from an area within a 25-mile radius of LaSalle-Peru, Utica and Ottawa (the Starved Rock area). Not all our members are fast runners. Many members jog through road races just for the good company and exercise, ignoring race times and competition completely. Others use road races to compete against the clock, oneself, or others, or to tune up for big events like a marathon.

Weekly runs: Wednesday evenings at 6:15 PM.
