I am 47 years old, and after years of neglect, I started getting my body into shape in 2001. I didn't feel the gym was accomplishing much to my body except building my running ability. I had never even ran a complete mile until on a treadmill in 2002. I started running in 2003, and dropped gym membership shortly after. In November 2003, I first broke the 8 minute mile.

In November, 2004, I entered my first race. I came in 76th out of 171, completing the 5 K (3.1 miles) in 24:30. In December 2005, I ran the MTC Half-Marathon. I came in 106th out of 155, completing the 13.1 miles in 2:03:33.

I am contemplating my first marathon in January 2007. Inspire me please.
