Former HS runner (Shelby Co., KY) and walk-on at Eastern Kentucky U, class of '85. Currently 18 - 20 lbs heavier than in those halcion days, and a good bit slower! Such is life . . . Just joined the West Florida Y Runners. Former member of Golden Isles Track Club (St Simoms Island, GA) and "life member" Todds Road Stumblers (Lexington, KY). PR's from my 20's include a 16:27 5k, 27:15 8k, 34:12 10k, 52:08 15k, 1:17:30 1/2-marathon - all on hilly KY or Ohio courses (that hilly part makes 'em sound better, huh?).
Semi-retired from competition, but still conflicted about that(as you can tell by the "semi"). Looking to make a comeback as a masters athlete; actually won my first masters division race and even had an overall win shortly after turning 40 a couple years ago, ran a slowish marathon in Oct 2004, but injuries and other things have put the whammy on serious training since then.
Going back to the track for workouts on Tuesday evenings with the West Florida Y Runners. Could use some serious training partners for other workouts in north Pinnelas/south Pasco county (re: 8:30 pace or faster medium/long runs). I just moved here from out of state, the runners version of witness protection and relocation program - get to start fresh with no one saying, "poor guy, he used to be so fast - and thin!".
