Running has been a part of my life since high school, when I ran 2 miles home most days after sports practices. I have coached high school, college, and adult runners since 1986. According to my running journals (which have not always been kept due to basketball related knee surgeries which forced me to quit running for 2 years), I have logged almost 55,000 miles.
Completing 13 marathons in Michigan, Ohio, Texas, California, North and South Carolina has been very satisfying, but my biggest joy comes from watching runners I have coached improve and even achieve competitive awards. I have been blessed with several conference and state champions and several team championships in cross country and track over the years which I treasure greatly. As has been said, "It's easy to look like a great coach when you have great talent."
My personal bests, most of which happened before my knee surgery in 1984: Mile: 4:36 2 Mile 9:58 5k: 16:44 8k: 30:30 10k: 36:11 15k: 55:05 Half-Marathon: 1:31 Marathon: 3:03
