I played rugby in college (flanker, eight man) for two years. During my junior year in college I did an intership in Dallas. I then started running as a way to get better at ultimate frisbee and lose some weight. I started running more and more, and by the time I was back in Golden, CO (at the School of Mines), I was up to ~ 20-30 mi/wk.

However, I trained stupidly and injured my IT band quite a bit. I got married, moved to Iowa, and learned that humidity was hard to run in, especially in an Iowa summer. I stopped running for about 3 years and started cycling. However, with the birth of my son I needed a sport that didn't take as much time as cycling did. My wife made a training plan for me for the Boulder Backroads half-marathon. I did it and am now moving on to bigger and better things - like trail running & marathons.
