The Flatirons Climbing Council, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is a partnership between the Access Fund, American Alpine Club, Colorado Mountain Club and the Action Committee for Eldorado. Collectively these organizations represent the climbing interest of their 27,000 members and the interests of climbers everywhere. The FCC was formed to preserve climbing access in the Flatirons, conserve climbing resources and the environment, and to work cooperatively with the land manager, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP), to resolve climbing issues.

The FCC has set and met the following objectives:

1. The FCC has funded and completed numerous conservation and trail restoration projects in the Flatirons. This includes three in the bouldering areas on Flagstaff Mountain. The FCC is committed to continuing this work.

2. The FCC gained approval for a pilot project in which applications may be submitted for new routes which include the placement of bolts, or other fixed hardware in the Flatirons. To occur on Dinosaur Mountain above NCAR, this pilot project provides an opportunity that has not existed since 1989. The FCC is committed to making the pilot project a success.

3. For the first time, climbers have an organization through which their concerns regarding climbing in the Flatirons can be expressed. The FCC has entered into a cooperative partnership with OSMP, being recognized by them as the agency through which the concerns of the climbing public can be raised with the land manager, and by extension, the City of Boulder and the public at large. The FCC is committed to representing all climbers who enjoy the Flatirons.
