I've been running seriously since 2000, but used to run when I was 18 years old in college (usually not more than 5k)
In 2003 I ran my first 5k race - was surprised by how sore I was later, and by how much fun it was. I quickly decided to train for a "shared marathon" with my husband. A few months later (April 2004)we did the OKlahoma City Memorial Marathon together. I had shinsplints that prevented me from training as well as I should have. But, we managed to finish it in under four hours, thanks to his efforts... I pretty much snailed my way through the second half, it took me 2 hours and 12 long and painful minutes.
