The Midland Trail spans 15.4 miles between the town of Buena Vista and Trout Creek Pass. The trail varies between smooth, level railroad railroad bed and rocky, hilly singletrack terrain. You will enjoy beautiful views of the Collegiate Peaks range accross the valley from Buena Vista.
Bring water! High altitude Colorado can be very warm in the summer, and dry year-round!From U.S. 24 through town (Main Street), turn at the light (there is only one light) and continue to the river. The road will turn into dirt. Park in the lot near the bridge.
To reach the trail, take the bridge over the Arkansas River, turn right. Follow the dirt path for about 1 1/4 miles until you come to the Midland (unmarked) then turn right again. Follow the Midland for about 1 1/2 miles, where the trail veers off in many directions. Stay straight, and signs will mark the trail from this point.
