This is an excellent run for anyone travelling through Little Rock as it is easily accesible off Interstate 40. For first timers, it is important to bring a map on this trail as the markings can be a little confusing and the map has good landmarks to watch for.
If you bring your dog, check for ticks afterwrads. Bring water.
There is also a 5 mile option for this trail. To stay on the 10 mile loop, take a right at the fork (see map). If you've passed the log cabin then the archery range, you're going the right way.
The history of Burns Park can be found on this website:

Take Exit 150, head north (right if you're going west on I-40, left if you're going east on I-40) onto Military Rd. Follow signs for Burns Park. The first left goes into Burns Park, you'll see the Visitor's Center on your left. The Visitor's center is open daily from 10:30-4:30, and I recommend picking up a trail map. Additionally, there is a large map on a sign accross from the Visitor's Center. See this map first to find the trail access points and to familiarize yourself with landmarks in the park.
From the Visitor's Center, get back on Military Road, head northwest past the ballfields. Turn left onto Funland drive, right before the Hospitality House. Follow the road over the Interstate. Look for covered bridge on your right that is adjacent to small pond. Park in parking lot at covered bridge. Trail access starts from parking lot.
