At the Mopac bridge and 1st st bridge there is water (sometimes powerade) provided by Runtex. There are several water fountains and even a few bathrooms throughout the trail. It's mostly trail but has some paved areas. Great spirit and lots of people. Women shouldn't run alone at night in the area as it thins out alot and there are some homeless/etc out occasionally. Dogs are fine if on leash with one leashless area (Auditorium Shores). The longest loops is 10.1, the shortest loops is 2.9. There is a map showing where the trail goes and the different loop lengths at the stretching/water area under Mopac bridge near Austin High.
To the Mopac parking: Coming from North of the river get off of Mopac at the 1st st exit and take the first right turn possible, looks like it would go to Austin High. Take your first left possible (don't go back under Mopac). Then find a parking spot along the road or keep going past the track and the tennis courts and park in the large parking lot area.
To Riverside/1st st parking: From downtown, take 1st st across the bridge to the riverside light. At the riverside light take a right and another immediate right into the parking lot. This is just across 1st st from Runtex and just across Riverside from Palmer Auditorium. This is where the Zero Mi marker is located.
To Zach Scott area parking: From downtown, take lamar across the river and take a right at the riverside light. Park.

When I was in Austin, I ran from a hotel near the captial to the trail (about 1 mile on city streets) and then explored the Town Lake Trails for several miles. I was running at 7:30am on a Sunday morning and the trail was packed with people. I also loved how the trail was mainly a light gravel surface and was very wide. Despite the width of the trail, it might be hard to do a very fast workout on this trail when it is so crowded, but otherwise it was great!
