"The Tennessee Sports Medicine EXPO 10K/5K is more than a race: It is Knoxville?s oldest and most beloved community running event. At 28 years, it is a tradition.
It begins with a running tour of Knoxville. From the start it offers a panoramic view of the Knoxville Skyline, across the renovated Gay street bridge and back across the Tennessee river over the Henley street bridge, thru the newly redesigned Market Square and on to the Fourth and Gill historic neighborhood.
It is the only race that celebrates the family by having mother/son, mother/daughter, father/son, father/daughter, wife/husband, three generations (male), three generations (female), three generations (mixed) categories.
It is the only race that has received the designation of single best road race in Tennessee by Runners World Magazine.
It is the only race that has been designated as the RRCA National Championship 10K.
It is the Knoxville Track Club?s event of the year."
The race starts on Howard Baker Jr. Ave., adjacent to the Civic Coliseum, where parking is available.
