Running Club North (RCN) is a non-profit organization, located in Fairbanks, Alaska, that is dedicated to the furtherance of running and running-related activities in Interior Alaska. RCN sponsors or co-sponsors more than 50 running events in the Interior each year, with events scheduled in all 12 months. We are a family-oriented organization with approximately 30% of our 250+ memberships being family memberships. Our total membership is approximately 375.

Our annual Event Calendar (see online at:
http://www.runningclubnorth.org/rcn8cal.htm)
includes over 100 events ranging from snowshoe races and triathlons (that include x-country skiing, swimming, and canoeing, as well as running and biking) to wilderness trail runs. Two of our premier races are in their fourth or fifth decades: the Gold Discovery Race (38th in 2003) and the Equinox Marathon (41st in 2003). By contrast, our two biggest 10K races - the Midnight Sun Run and the Chena River Run - are approximately half that age, just entering their third decades (in 2002, on it's 21st anniversary, our Chena River Run morphed into a 5K). Our Calendar (http://www.runningclubnorth.org/rcn
8cal.htm)also includes training events (weekly summer track workouts for both men and women, summer trail training runs, and our Wednesday evening training runs during our short 6-month winter), events aimed at novice runners (Back of the Pack 10K, Couch Potato Challenge), and children (kid's events at our 4 Track Meets) as well as serious runners (Williams Cup Series); and our winter snowshoe races number 5.

However, even if you've never run before and are considering taking up running for the first time, or if you're just a beginning runner, or if you're new to our area and would like some advice on how to and where to run, what to avoid, or how to connect with other runners: then Running Club North can help you with that also. Our liason for new runners is Tracey Martinson. Contact Tracey by e-mail at fntam@uaf.edu, or by phone at 907-474-8353.

We publish a periodic newsletter, Running Briefs. Our Editor, who is always on the lookout for interesting stories, race results, etc. is also Tracey Martinson. You can also contact her by phone, at 907-474-8353, or through the mail at: 1716 Reed Circle, Fairbanks, AK 99709.

We also maintain an e-mail notification list. If you want to be among the first to know about all of Running Club North's latest breaking news and race updates, then subscribe to our growing e-mail notification list. Contact Jane Lanford at jane@ch-cpa.com to have your e-mail address added to our list.

Regular runs every Wednesday throughout the year at various locations (see website or use contact information here for more information). During the summer months, there are more regular runs and track workouts.
