What do we mean when we say we're running for change?
We mean it's time for a change in our communities and it's time for a change in our country. In the last four years, funding for many important social programs has dropped dramatically. Funding cuts at the national level have had a profound impact on many issues we care deeply about in our communities, such as jobs, healthcare, and the environment.
All profits from Run for Change 2004 go to the following organizations:
There are 10 million unemployed people in the United States. 4.7 million more are unable to find full time jobs.
Running to benefit: The Work Place *
As of January 2004, 44 million Americans did not have health insurance. This number continues to rise every year.
Running to benefit: Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers *
This year's proposed federal budget would cut EPA inspection staff by 18 percent in 2005, and civil enforcement staff would decline 11 percent from 2001 levels.
Running to benefit: Environmental League of Massachusetts *
Please run with us and help us support our community's future. Then consider these issues when you vote on November 2nd — nothing will do more to support these worthy causes than a government willing to prioritize them.
Place: Lee Memorial Wading Pool, along the Charles River, by the Charles MGH T stop. To the right of the Longfellow Bridge (if looking towards Cambridge).
