This long run follows Rock Creek and the Potomac River past the Tidal Basin where it loops around a section of the River by crossing the 14th Street Bridge into Virginia and takes the Arlington Memorial Bridge back into DC. At that point it retraces the earlier section of the route back along the river and Rock Creek to the starting point.
From the start at 23rd and P Streets, run SW on the Rock Creek Parkway path and continue south along the Potomac River past the Lincoln Memorial (1.77 miles)and the Arlington Memorial Bridge. You'll continue running south along the shore next to Ohio Drive on West Potomac Park to the 14th Street Bridge. Cross on the bridge and turn back north on the George Washington Memorial Parkway path along the west side of the river. Cross the Potomac again on the Arlington Memorial Bridge, run to the Lincoln Memorial again (3.65 mile loop), and retrace your path back through Rock Creek Park to the start point (another 1.77 miles).
You can shorten the route by turning around anytime before crossing the 14th Street Bridge.
Start at 23rd and P Street, 4 blocks west of Dupont Circle (the nearest subway stop).
