Located at the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary in Lexington, the 'red' loop circles the entire sanctuary and offers really nice views. You can add other trails in the park to total up to 8 miles.
There is no fee to run here, but mind the hours of operation (9:00-7:00 pm ET April thru September and from 9:00-5:00 pm the rest of the year). Also, the Sanctuary is closed on major holidays. For more information about the Sanctuary, contact at:

Take Richmond Road east (out of town) and turn right onto highway 25 (across from Jacobson Park). Go approximately 3 ? miles to Jack's Creek Pike and turn right (at Judy Ray's Grocery Store). Go about 5 ? miles on Jack's Creek Pike and Raven Run is located on the left. A large chain-link fence and sign mark the entrance.

The Raven Run Nature Sanctuary offers some nice trails, but not great for a long run. (which is the workout I tried to do at the sanctuary) Some parts of the trails are steep and rocky. My favorite sections were through meadows where the trail more even and I could pick up the pace a bit. I was able to run 1 hour 20 min. without repeating trails, but I wouldn't go here again for a serious long run. I did enjoy the views of the Ohio River and I was lucky to be at the sanctuary on a beautiful day! (I even got to see a turkey in the woods!) :-)

How did you observe the Ohio river in central Ky? You might be able to observe the Oh river if you went North a few hours.
