Three loop marathon with a fair amount of small hills and one large one at mile 17 well organized and caters to the runner, a large amount of spectators and lots of music a fun one to run.
Rolling and fast with a few long gradual hills on the first part of course; each year over 30 percent of our experienced participants set PRs; sanctioned and certified by USA Track & Field, The Association of International Marathons, (AIMS), and listed by USAT&F for age records and Boston Marathon qualification. The course is open for 8 hours.
All participants who finish the Portland Marathon are considered winners. Each participant receives crowd kudos and individual recognition, an elegant one of a kind medal, a long sleeved finisher's shirt, a poster, a pin, a rose, a seedling tree, a certificate of completion, finish area food, beverage, space blanket, the on-hand availability of medical care and other perks to enhance your euphoria or ease your pain.
Downtown Portland - Start at City Hall/Portland Building (SW 4th Ave. and SW Main Ave); Finish at Justice Center (SW 3rd Ave. and SW Madison Ave.); Event day activities will use the streets in and around Chapman-Lownsdale Schrunk Parks (SW Salmon to SW Jefferson between SW 3rd and SW 4th Avenues).
