Surf: Beach Break
This is mostly a fishing and walking beach. The steep beach and strong riptides prevent it from much surfing or swimming enjoyment. However it is the most easily accessed beach from town. Locally know as the "fisherman's beach," the south end of Playa Punta Lobos is where all the local fisherman launch their pangas from and return at the end of the day with their daily catch.
Also on the beach is an old lighthouse, a fresh water lagoon, and a shrine to the Virgin at the south end of the beach.
Fishing
You will see lots of locals fishing on this beach, and you can find plenty of room for your own rod. If you don't catch anything, you can sometimes buy fresh fish directly from the fisherman at the end of the day (cheaper than the market rates).
Directions
From town you can access the beach on Calle Punta Lobos (south side of town) or just off Highway 19 (south of town) at the first road turning toward the ocean.
