There is no trailhead at the corner of Sts. John and Montezuma Roads. In fact, there is a "No Parking on County Roads" sign at this exact location (as well as others throughout the town). This is private property, and vehicles parked at this location are subject to towing and ticketing. In fact, it is illegal to park on any roads or private property within Montezuma. The Town of Montezuma and the Summit County Sheriff's Department now vigorously enforce the no parking ordinance with regular patrols, including ticketing and towing. The only legal parking for Sts. John is at the Peru Creek trailhead, .75 miles north of Montezuma, operated by the USFS. The Sheriff's Department is also cracking down on speeders who do not obey the 20 mph speed limit.
