this has got to be the state championship totally (almost) uphill 10k paved race. it is a 'quality' run, what with the sponsoring club's preparation, attention to details, awards, and generous 'door prizes'. the year i ran was quite the adventure as a late (late) spring blizzard was in progress, snowplows were out scraping away, and visibility was 100 yards or less. i still had as much fun as one could have under the circumstances -- but running uphill for 5 some miles (the last mile or so is level-ish) is a real challenge.
i was NOT the master's winner, did not set the age group record (some MONSTER had done that the year before). nevertheless, my daughter (age early-20's) was 6th or so woman and was second in her age group and i won a medal as well. in retrospect, we're glad we did it, well worth the beer(s) imbibed in reflection later in the day...
