One of the more challenging runs in metro nashville. Very hilly, but shaded for those hot summer mornings. In this 11.2 mile run, "three mile hill" and "nine mile hill" are both steep and long. And what goes up, must come down, so hold yourself back on the decent or you might hit the wall (literally) coming down 9 mile hill. This loop also has many, many hilly trails on all sides. If you're feeling brave, you could even run it twice! Also a great, difficult bike ride for those feeling brave. Go to this website for a trail map of the park. http://nashville.gov/parks/warner.htm#

From Downtown Nashville, drive south on West End Avenue for about 6-7 miles. About 1/2 mile after crossing White Bridge/Woodmont rd., the Belle Meade Police station and a big white church will be on your left. Right after the church, you will make a left turn onto Belle Meade Boulevard (look for the horse statues). This is one end of the Boulvard. Drive 2.5 miles down the Boulevard and you will see "The Gates". Park here and start your run.

Go through the gates, and begin the run on the road up to the right.

Why in the heck would anybody run on the roads inside Percy Warner Park when you can run on the 20 miles of interlocking trails inside the forest?
I ran at Percy Warner or 2 years and never once ran on the roads! I can't even begin to understand the logic behind that. Thee are wonderful trails for running. The 8-mile loop and the 5-mile loop are favorites. Or, combine them for a long run. Lots of roller coaster hills and beautiful scenes, but nothing too difficult. Great, great stuff. Just access them from the Belle Meade entrance, about 1/2 mile up the road on either side.
