There are great views of the Dillon Reservoir and the entire Blue River Valley from the trailhead. This out-and-back trail is an easy trail that is readibly accessible, but it does not have the wilderness feel. You are basically overlooking the outlet malls and the Interstate.

From I-70 take Exit 205, Silverthorne / Dillon, and travel north on HWY 9 to the first traffic light at the intersection of Rainbow Drive / Wildernest Road. Turn left onto Wildernest Road (this road turns into Ryan Gulch Road). After crossing the Blue River, turn right onto Adams Ave. and then immediately turn left onto Royal Buffalo Drive (you will be driving between two auto dealerships). After .8 miles, turn right onto Lakeview Drive and proceed to Royal Red Bird Drive. Turn left onto Royal Red Bird Drive and continue for .2 miles. There will be a pull thru parking lot on the right-hand side of the road. The trailhead is located just north of the parking lot.
