This is can be out and back run. You start uphill, reach the peak then downhill to the other side. You can repeat the hill run back or follow the road back to the trailhead which is flat but longer than 2 miles back.
Today I did this run for the first time and I had a ball. I'm here visiting from the flatlands -- Chicago -- so I was a little concerned when my friend said we were going to do Pinnacle Peak and run much of it. But what a blast! It was one of the prettiest trail runs in the area. We fast walked much of the ups, and ran all of the downs and it was a great workout. As a bonus, the people that were working back at the trailhead were just as friendly and nice as could be. All this PLUS clean restrooms! I give this trail an A+.
