The Okanogan National Forest is an amazing place. However, the idea of sub-freezing temperatures... Temperatures are dependent on the location. For instance the Okanogan Highlands is a micro-climax surrounded on three sides by the Okanogan National Forest. With several Alpine lakes such as Ell Lake, Long Lake, Round Lake and Bonaparte Lake this area could be considered the heart of the American Okanogan.\\r\\n\\r\\nAdditionally is should also be noted this area is less than an hour in most locations from the Canadian border and the Canadian Okanagon. In fact, this area could be considered to be one of the hottest selling areas in Washington State if not the Northwest. There is very little private land available for private ownership in this area.
