It's this marathon that made me fall in love with marathon runnng and I've run it 14 times since 1984, the most recent time being 2003. The scenic, net downhill course with wide streets and gentle rolling hills is never boring and will get you a PR. The experienced race management, the dedicated volunteers, the enthusiastic community all make it very runner friendly. The Pace Team Leaders are the most "right on" you will find anywhere.

We had beautiful weather for this year's race. There were 42 entries this year. The fastest man was Kevin Pringle, from Admire, Kansas, who ran the course in 19:05. The fastest woman was Cathy Colglazier, from Scranton, Kansas, whose time was 25:39. The course was about 75 yards over 5K this year. The portion on top of the levee around town was in much better shape this year thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Also, the trails in Flint Hills National Wildlife Area were well maintained and groomed with a leaf blower the day before the race (by refuge personnel). We appreciate the great cooperations by these agencies. This was the 3rd year for this race, which is held in conjunction with Hartford Harvest Day, the town's annual festival. See you next year!
