A 5K run/walk on cross-country terrain, which varies from blacktop, to nature trails, to grass hummocks. Part of the race is on trails along the Neosho River maintained by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service at the Flint Hills Wildlife Refuge. About a third of the race is along the top of a levee which partially encircles the town of Hartford, Kansas.

Registration begins at 7:00 am. at the fire station on main street. T-Shirt and Men/Women/Boys/Girls age division awards plus plaques for fastest man and fastest woman. Water station provided at half-way mark. Refreshments provided after race. This is the first event of the day for the annual Hartford Harvest Day. Activities include antique car and tractors, a talent show, a parade, activities for children, various contests, a quilt show, food, crafts, a dance, etc. Bring the family and have a great time! There were 42 participants last year and we expect more this year. The fastest man was 19:05 and the fastest woman was 27:50. The official for the start and finish will be Mr. Bill Tidwell, a former all-American runner.
