The Lawrence Mountain Bike club is a registered nonprofit organization based in Lawrence, Kansas and was originally formed in 1996.
The LMBC mission is to promote cycling by organizing mountain bike races, social rides, social events, and to support local trail advocacy efforts in and around Lawrence, Kansas.
LMBC sponsors the Lawrence Chapter of the National Mountain Bike Patrol, and is a member club of the International Mountain Bike Association, IMBA (www.imba.com).
Members help maintain the local bike trails, promote mountain bike races, and organize fun events such as the ShinDig, the Solstice Ride, and the New Year's Day Ride, as well as weekly Friday Night Rides through the spring and summer.
LMBC Friday Night Ride (Summer only)
Date: Every Friday Night (During Daylight Savings Time)
Time: 6:30 P.M.
Description: Casual ride for mountain bikers of all levels on the Lawrence River Trail. Pace varies, ride will regroup at the end for refreshments at the lower parking lot (bring your own refreshments)
Location: Lawrence River Trail, River Front Park 8th and Oak in North Lawrence

LMBC New Year's Day Ride
Date: Every year on New Year's Day
Time: 12:00 Noon.
Description: This was the inaugural ride of the Lawrence Mountain Bike Club in 1996. Rain, snow, cold it doesn't matter we always start the year off by going for a ride at the River Trail then having burgers and refreshments at Johnny's Tavern. The New Year's Day Ride is appropriate for riders of all abilities, ride one, two, or less on the 9 mile River Trail. No fee.
Location: Lawrence Visitors Center (Restored Union Pacific Depot) in North Lawrence at the intersection of N. 2nd Street (Mass St.) and Locust Streets just north of the river.
