The 29th annual Jefferson Hospital Philadelphia Distance Run has been the premier half marathon in the U.S. for over a quarter century. The tradition continues in 2006. Enjoy a scenic and historic course through Philadelphia?s most celebrated sites. Take part in this Classic American Road Race on Sunday, September 17 with thousands of other runners.

Enjoy a scenic and historic course through many of Philadelphia?s celebrated sites. The start and finish lines will be on Eakins Oval, by the Philadelphia Museum of Art. From the start line, runners will head towards Center City on the legendary Benjamin Franklin Parkway lined with glorious fountains, international flags and a vast array public art. You will then pass City Hall and Independence Hall. After heading back up Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the course will roll into the serene and picturesque Fairmount Park along the Schuylkill River before finishing back at Eakins Oval.

Pick up your race number, T-shirt and goodie bag before checking out the Jefferson Hospital Philadelphia Run's Health & Fitness Expo at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. Exhibits will feature free samples, fitness seminars and health screenings, plus the latest running shoes, sports apparel and health & nutrition products.

Cash prizes are awarded to cheer squads with the most spirit, energy and originality.

After crossing the finish line and replenishing with water, Energy Bars and other refreshments, meet up with friends and family in the Family Reunion area. Enjoy live music at the finish line stage, sponsor exhibits and more food and drink at this rockin? post race party.

The start line will be located on Benjamin Franklin Parkway east of 24th st.
