The 5K Run/Walk proceeds over city streets and a hike/bike trail. There are a few hills to add to the fun of this course. The 1 mile mosey is through the campus of Southwestern University.
All the proceeds from this event benefit the Jaysn Jameson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Southwestern University. The scholarship was established after the death of Jaysn in 1991 in a scuba diving accident. Jaysn was a 1990 graduate of Southwestern University. He loved to run and that is why a 5K was established to pay tribute to his memory. The scholarship is given to a deserving student who is majoring in the natural sciences, in good standing with the University and in financial need. These are the same attributes that Jaysn had while attending Southwestern.
From Interstate 35 take Exit #261 (Texas Highway 29). Follow Highway 29 east (University Avenue) into Georgetown, approximately 1.5 miles. Turn left at Southwestern Boulevard, the fourth entrance beyond the train tracks. Parking is along the street or by the Robertson Center.
