Hendricks Park sits atop a tall ridge just east of the University of Oregon. As soon as you get near, you enter a world of lush green trees and plantlife which somehow keep the sounds of traffic from I-5 to a minimum. Scenery is beautiful and the roads in and around the park include long and steep climbs. The park itself is small, and I have run there for hill repeats from time to time, but my favorite use of the park is as a way to run from campus to Pre's Trail, just across the Willamette River. I like to press the pace up Birch Lane and run a few loops around the rhododendron garden, before heading down through the neighborhoods northeast of the park and across Franklin Blvd. to Pre's Trail. Hendricks Park is too small for a run all to itself, but it is a nice place to swing through if you want some peace and quiet and enjoy running hills. You can also check out Pre's Rock (the site where Steve Prefontaine died in 1975, which is an ongoing memorial to Pre) on Skyline Blvd., a few hundred meters north of the park. The park's website has more information: http://www.ci.eugene.or.us/parks/hendricks/
Take Fairmont Blvd. east to Summit Ave. which turns into Birch Lane (still going east). The park is at the top of the ridge.
