This loop near MSU (Montanta State University) in Bozeman takes you on a tour of the trails in the city, with streams, hills, and neighborhoods. The directions here are for running it in a clockwise direction.
Start at Romney Gym on the MSU campus (see campus map in the maps section of this description). Run east on the sidewalk, slightly downhill, on Grant Street. After you cross Wilson, look for the Gallagator Trail through the fence at the dead end, and turn left onto the trail. Follow the gravel on the trail, crossing Church, and head up east and then south on the Burke Park trail.
There's about a mile of fairly continuous uphill on the dirt and gravel surface to the top of Peets Hill at 5,060', than downhill on the Simkins Spur to Kagy.
Turn right on Kagy and follow the downhill sidewalk for 0.5 miles, then a gradual uphill again to South 7th. Turn right on 7th, and a flat sidewalk returns you to parking at te Romney Gym.
Bozeman, Montana, is located on I-90. Two interstate exits will bring you to the campus of MSU-Bozeman.
From the west, take exit 305 onto North 19th Avenue and follow it south to Kagy Boulevard (approximately 3.5 miles). Turn left onto Kagy and continue to South 11th Avenue; turn left, and then right at Grant. The gym is on the left before you get to 7th.
If you take exit 309 from the east onto Main Street, proceed west to Willson Avenue, turn left, and travel 18 blocks to Kagy Boulevard (Willson will curve slightly here). Turn right and continue for seven blocks to South 7th Avenue, turn right again, and head north to Grant. Turn left on Grant, and the gym will be on the right about 2 blocks ahead (halfway to 11th).
